Cats and Dogs

Players cannot place stones orthogonally adjacent to the opponent. The last player able to place wins. The default game is Chris Huntoon's 11×11 Cats and Dogs, built from Simon Norton's SNORT.

Unrestricted 8×8. The centre is legal. Mirror play is strong.

Portuguese tournament protocol: player 1 must open on one of the central 2×2 cells (d4, d5, e4, e5). Player 2 must answer outside that 2×2, still obeying the adjacency rule.

8×8 with no opening restriction. The player who cannot place wins.
