Hex is the earliest connection game that was invented by Piet Hein in 1942 and later rediscovered and popularised by John Nash.
Players take turns filling in hex spaces. The goal is to form a chain of their pieces to make a connection between the player's edges (North to south for player 1, and West to East for player 2). After the first move, the second player has the option to swap colours.
On Abstract Play, the default size is 13×13, and sizes 11×11, 15×15 and 19×19 are available as variants.
