Blockade

Blockade (also known as Cul-de-sac) is a 'beat the barrier' game where you get one of your pawns to a starting space of your opponent. Players place 2-wide walls to block each other.

Inventor: Philip Slater

Rules

Published listing: BoardGameGeek: Blockade.

Variants

Optional wall

After moving, wall placement is optional.

Exclusive wall

Either move a pawn or place a wall, not both.

Opponent's back-rank goal

Win by reaching the opponent's back rank. Every pawn must still be able to reach at least one goal.

Single-step

Pawns move one orthogonal step. They may jump an opponent unless that piece sits on the goal (then they land on the goal and capture). If a second enemy sits immediately behind the jumped piece, that piece is captured too.
