Formerly known as Icehouse games and lately called Looney Pyramid games, pyramid games are many and varied. Most game rules can be found in the Looney Pyramid Wiki, formerly known as the Icehouse games wiki.

Pyramid games are played with Looney Pyramids, which come in various selections from a set of ten standard and several more bonus colors and three sizes (small, medium, and large, marked with 1, 2 or 3 pips), Most games require some number of colors (usually 2 to 5), and some number of trios of each color.

A trio is one small, one medium, and one large. A nest is a trio with the small pyramid nested inside the medium, nested inside the large. A tree is a trio with the small pyramid stacked on top of the medium, stacked on top of the large. A stash is a set of 5 trios, usually of the same color but sometimes in 5 different colors.

Historically the number of trios per color in a game was often 4 or 5, while recently the number of trios is often only 3 because of the configuration of the latest box of pyramids. As a consequence, the rules to many older games have been revised to accommodate smaller numbers of pyramids.

But online, you don't have to pay for any pyramids so an infinite number of each color is available, and games at Abstract Play may not follow the revised rules, or may not even include the revised rules as a variant.
